Easy Ways to Make A Home More Stylish
Fashion and style are one of my favorite things to talk about! On my Instagram, you have probably seen me post about my try-on sessions, favorite outfits, and all about how I style accessories, as well. I find it so fun to do and share with all of you. One thing that I have been wanting to talk about more is how I bring style into my home! There are definitely easy ways to make a home more stylish - you do not have to have a lot of time, energy, or money, and some of the ways will even include using items/furniture that you already have in your home. Here are some of my best tips on how to make a home more stylish: Lets get started!
Get Organized
There is nothing more stylish than an organized home. If you walk into someone's home and see junk all over the place, will you think that it’s stylish and well put together? More than likely not. That’s why I think that a stylish home also needs to be organized and well thought out. There is a reason why people love organizational Instagram accounts: they are stylish and appealing to the eye! Find inspiration at the container store, on Instagram, or on Pinterest and have fun while organizing each room in your home.
Keep It Light And Bright
I guess this definitely depends on your preferences, but personally, I love a light and bright home. I think that keeping your home neutral and bright opens up the space and makes your home stand out. A dark space seems small, dirty, and does not give off the best of vibes. Most of the homes that I see on Pinterest and Instagram are full of neutrals such as white, taupe, etc.
Move Around Or Take Away Furniture
When it comes to style within a home, a lot of it has to do with how you place your furniture and decor pieces (I will talk about decor in a minute!), and not so much about the actual furniture you are using (although this does have a lot to do with it, as well). Instead of placing as many furniture items as possible in one room, try to move them around, space them out, and create space. If you do not need all of the furniture in your home because it is cluttering up your space, consider moving the items out. This has the potential to become an undertaking, however - furniture is heavy! If you need help when it comes to moving your furniture (no matter if it’s due to reorganizing, renovating, or moving to a new home), Fresh Start - The Moving Crew can help you out. They are most known for being really great house movers Worcester County, but they do commercial moves, as well as packing, too! They start in MA, CT, NH, ME, VE, RI, and travel to wherever you need them to with your furniture. Their owner, James Cooper, says “We always strive to put the customer first. That’s how we went from using a borrowed truck and trailer to serving over 1,000 customers in our first 3 years of being in business.” So, if you need to move around furniture, or if you’re moving to a new home completely, or moving your business, give Fresh Start - The Moving Crew a call!
FIll Up Your Couch Cushions
I just did this with my couch cushions, so I wanted to mention it on here. You know the look when couch cushions become flat and uncomfortable? Not only are they not comfortable to rest on, but they also do not look the best. Instead of leaving them as-is and thinking that there is nothing to do about it, take the time to quickly fill them back up with cotton. It is so easy to do, only takes a few minutes, and it changes the look of your couch so much. This is a very quick and easy way to make your space more stylish, for sure.
Create A Fun Outdoor Space
I love a good outdoor space. We have a back deck with a sectional couch, ottoman, and umbrella. This is the perfect space to wind down in the evenings! The great thing about a fun outdoor space is that you can do so much with it. Host parties, grill out, read a book under an umbrella, lay out and get some sun, have an outdoor dinner, and more. Personalizing your space is where you can make it more stylish. Instead of leaving the couch bare, add a few fun pillows to spruce it up. Add in a rug for color and texture, and when it comes to the umbrella, depending on what you are going for, you could add a colorful option, or more of a neutral to match the couch. Other great ideas that I have seen are string lights for ambience, outdoor plants on the patio/deck, and maybe even a hammock or a swinging chair if you have the room.
Layer
No, I’m not talking about a bralette under a tank under an oversized sweater type of layering that you are probably accustomed to. Instead, I’m talking about the small details that are within your home: your decor items! It’s easy to just throw pieces of decor here and there within your home, but I truly believe that if you focus on intentionally placing items, your home will automatically seem much more stylish.
For example, my coffee table has a tray on it. I could just leave the tray empty, but this would look unfinished and not-so-stylish. Instead of just throwing it down and being done with it, I took the time to find other small decor items that played up the look of the tray - and of the table. I added a small glass jar, a book, a plant, and my favorite addition, a candle. You can most definitely use items around your home for this. If you do not have an immediate eye for decor, play around with it. Sometimes, it takes time to find pieces that look great together, but once you figure it out, you will be so happy that you took the time to do so.
I hope these tips help you get started! As always, if you have any questions or comments, leave them in the box below! Happy styling!
