Hair Extensions

I’ve had hair extensions before, but never the hand-tied method. I decided it was time to give it a go. I went with Kim Lucas, from Lucas salon, in Epping NH. Kim is trained in the Habit Extension Method by Chrissy Rasmussen (owner of Habit Salon) and her team. I like extensions for the fullness it gives, but this time I went for fullness and length, choosing to go with the 22s(inches). Lets get started!

Consult

for a color match..

After calling to inquire about extensions, you’ll have a consult to discuss what you’re looking for, style, color, fullness, length, etc. If you are happy with your current color, Kim will color match the extensions to your hair. Mine matched perfectly. I color my roots to cover gray, so she did that at the same time and blended the color down.

The salon will order what you need and will call you for an installation time. Prepare for a good 2-3 hour appointment, depending how much you are having done. Cut, color, etc.

COST: I know this is usually #1 question. It depends. On how much hair you purchase and how long the install. This is what the consult is for. Hair itself usually starts at a couple hundred dollars.

Installation Day

Hand-tied literally means hand-tied. As you can see in the pics, Kim clipped the hair weave to my hair and tied the extensions into my own hair. I have really thin hair so I went with 3 pieces. I wanted fullness. In the last picture, Kim is blending the color of my roots to the extensions. Everything looks seamless.

Dry and Cut

Install is complete, roots are colored, and hair is washed. Time to blow dry. It’s A LOT of hair so it was all hands on deck. The cut (or shaping in my case) is done at the end when hair is dry. It blended my own hair with the extensions. If you were to get extensions for the fullness but were going to cut short, now is the time to style.

If you are looking for a new salon for anything, not just extensions, I fully trust her work and advice. I do not recommend getting extensions without doing your research and while they can be on the expensive side, you fully get what you pay for.
