What To Put In Older Kids Easter Baskets
My kids are older. 15, 14, and 11. All girls. As they get older, Easter baskets are ever evolving. Brian and I have never been ones to fill their baskets with candy just to be thrown out later, or worse! Left for me to eat. Nope. I also do a mix of their wants vs. needs. I’ve rounded up a few ideas that we are using this year for the girls baskets.
Anything with a * would work for boys as well.
*First off, they will not be getting traditional Easter baskets. My girls love baskets. For storage of makeup, accessories, blankets, etc. So I have found a few from Homesense and Homegoods. They are cute and at a great price point.
Wants- *I keep track in my mind the things they have been asking for. Currently they all want Vans. Shoes are never a bad option as kids are constantly growing out of them. Am I right?? This make life really easy and serves as a good base.
Plants- My girls are obsessed with plants. They love to decorate their room with them. While my oldest has quite a few real plants you don’t have to go that route. For real I suggest succulents. They are small, affordable and hard to kill. Haha. Trader Joe’s has some tiny ones that are only $2! If you want to go faux, Target has some really cute ones in pastel colored pots in the dollar spot.
*One item of their favorite snack or candy. Get something they love but do not get very often. They will love it!
Sunglasses- Girls can never have too many sunglasses. Especially if they come from the dollar spot at Target! Which is great because kids are tough on sunglasses and their taste changes as fast as they can break them. If your boy is into shades also then go for it!
Needs- These are the items that kids will be excited about but really it’s just helping you because these things are always needed.
*Chapstick- Every kid needs chapstick and every time they need it they can’t find it. Get a pack of 10 and split them up. You’ll use them.
*Waterbottles – Always needed. We have invested in Yetis and Hydroflasks. They are amazing and keep water cold for 24hrs. If your kid is anything like mine, she will only drink ice water. If you don’t need a new one of either of these, a genius hack is to get different lids/straws. both companies make different style lids for whatever drink you have. Dicks Sporting Goods have all of them. Way cheaper then buying a new bottle but similar benefits.
*Portable chargers and earbuds. Both of these can be bought in the dollar spot or the dollar store. They are no more then $5 each and will always come in handy. Especially on days mom forgot hers;)
I hope this gives you a little kick start for Easter and takes out some of the guesswork?!
